Backing adds length to you fly line ,it is tied to reel spool and the fly line and gives more combined line, to fight a big fish that decides to take line and run.Backing allows enough line to fight and land a fish that has long run capabilities.

How thick is braided 200lb test fishing line?

I want to create the illusion that I can levitate, and I want to use 200lb test fishing line but I need to know how thick it is and how visible it would be. Please tell.

Any braid no matter the diameter or pound test is going to be very visible.

What are some of the best places to buy fishing rods- or does it even matter?

I want to buy some fresh water fishing gear like rods, lines, worms, flies, etc, but not sure where the best place to get em would be. I don't want to pay too much but at the same time I don't want something that will snap in a couple of uses. I was thinking about walmart, but I have a thing against walmart =_=

You get what you pay for. You can get cheap stuff at Walmart, but it will be cheap stuff. You might get a cheap rod there for a couple bucks less than if you go to a real tackle shop and get the exact same cheap rod, but either way you'll have a cheap rod.

Go to a shop that specializes in fishing tackle -- either a small local shop, or a chain tackle store like Bass Pro Shops. You'll have a better selection of gear at all price and quality levels, and you should be able to find someone in there who knows about fishing and can give you good specific local advice about both the tackle and the fishing (which to me is worth more than the difference on the price tags).
