The Sage VXP Series Fly rod is a slightly faster version of the old favourite the XP. It is considered smooth and responsive with a thinner overall diameter that reduces the mass weight of this rod and it is light as a feather! Our staff had the delight of test driving the 9' 5 weight VXP at our lodge recently and our review of the Sage VXP was great. It is an impressive creature, with binding power in a rod that has an articulate feel and does not overpower small dry flies yet will rocket your indicators and split shot at high speed! The guides seem to be marginally larger than the old XP which makes shooting line lengthy distances a snap. We plan to do more reviews of the other rod weights but we expect that they will fall right in line with our opinion of the 5 weight.
